DRM720K was delivered to the former Cumberland Fire Service as a PHP and transferred to Cumbria in 1974. The vehicle is Ford D1617 chassis, with HCB Angus fire engineering and carried a Simon SS50 hydraulic rescue platform. The vehicle was retired from service in 1990. (Photo Andy Anderson) |
Cumbria operate three foam tenders, one each at Barrow,
Carlisle and this one at Whitehaven. E997AHH, like the others is a Volvo FL614 with

D94UHH is one of four Prime movers using Dodge G13 chassis with Ray smith demountable equipment. This one carries a Penman of Dumfries built Control Unit and is based at Cockermouth Headquarters. (Photo Andy Anderson)

Between 1988 and 1990, the brigade replaced it's aerial fleet
with Volvo FL617 chassis carrying Magirus 30metre turntable ladders. these were supplied
and engineered by Carmichael's of Worcester. G790OAO is seen at Carlisle deputising for

B652HRM was one of four Dodge G12 Rescue Lighting Tenders
recently replaced by the MRVs. All were bodied by Ecroloite and were stationed at Barrow,

REC839R was on of four identical Commer KC40 van conversions by the brigade which were used as Rescue Lighting Units. This one was stationed at Workington. (Photo Ken Reid)

NRM666M was delivered as a Water Tender by Gloster Saro. The
vehicle, based on a Ford D1010 chassis was later converted by the brigade to run as the

There are two Special Incident Units by R.Hood Coachworks
currently in service with Cumbria Fire Service. One each at Kendal and Whitehaven. This
one D529TRM, serves at Kendal covering the southern area of the brigade. (Photo Andy
